Past Undertakings:

2019
-Wrote 2nd letter to Directeur d’état civil to obtain declaration of death form, stated in the civil code as the responsibility of the spouse of the deceased, a close relative or a person connected by marriage or a civil union
-Some of our members hosted 2 death cafés to inspire discussion about death related matters
-Met with Hannen Sabean who wrote an article in the Up the Gatineau publication of the Gatineau Historical Society, Volume 45 on the history of dying in the Gatineau Valley
-Sent a representative to meet at the Longhouse of the Kanienkehaka Traditional Council in Kahnawake as an ally in our community deathcaring values
-Sent a representative to the Reconstitution of the Eagle and the Condor meeting to discuss birth midwifery and community deathcaring led by Kanienkehaka Traditional Council
-Created a Facebook page with content related to deathcaring in Québec
-Created a Green Deathcare section of our website, currently being translated into French
-Wrote articles for LowDown (newspaper for Outaouais region) on Cremation and Embalming
-Created petition to ban formaldehyde use in the funeral industry
-Held a community stall at the farmer’s market in Wakefield to make corndolls, offer coffin cookies and talk with the community about death related matters
-Hosted 1st Swan Song Festival (under the umbrella of Community Deathcare Canada)
-Wrote 128 letters to all MNAs in Québec
-Sent letter to Minister of Health and Social Services
-Met with Gatineau MNA Robert Bussière

2018
-Established Community Deathcare Québec and held our first meeting on March 11th, 2018
-Met with various funeral services and cemeteries to find those allied with community deathcare values
-To help us understand the origins of the Funeral Operations Act of 2016, we read through the many hearings that took place at the National Assembly
-Wrote 1st letter to Directeur d’état civil to obtain declaration of death form, stated in the civil code as the responsibility of the spouse of the deceased, a close relative or a person connected by marriage or a civil union
-Wrote an article for LowDown (newspaper for Outaouais region) on Green Burial
-Created a survey about Community Deathcaring and Green Burial in Québec
-Hosted Don Morris from Victoria BC for a Home Funeral Practicum in Wakefield, QC
-Some of our members hosted 2 death cafés to inspire discussion about death related matters
